Top 5 Scary Moments in Non-Horror Games
There are horror games, and then there are non-horror games. Most games aren’t scary and they aren’t even meant to be scary! But game designers have a tendency to sneak in a few scares every once in a while.
In this blog, we have collected five of the scariest moments in popular non-horror games.
Bioshock constantly creates environments that are tension filled and scary. Despite it not being a horror game, one part, in particular scared the pants off me…
When you are in the lab of a dead doctor and you are listening to his audio log, you turn around and guess who’s there? Easily one of the best jump scares I’ve had while gaming.
What happens when you show up at a Cannibal Town? This place is run down, looks like crap and they eat each other up!
When you have exposed what they have done, they get rather violent and hostile. And dealing with cannibals is always a frightening experience. “Better an orphan than a cannibal, I guess?”
If you cut the power to the console in the game and turn it back on after Snake gets put into jail, you basically play a completely different game- where you are a weird thing attacking other weird things.
You can hear your heart beating loud, you are making beast sounds and you can hear the wind howling in the background- The true setup of something scary. It’s most definitely not a place you want to be in when you close your eyes.
Everything around in Winter Lodge looks bright, welcoming and nice. But, guess what? It is a dead place, nothing particularly scary happens here…
Except for the moment you step in the Bloodstone Demon door of Winter Lodge- A shrill noise breaks the silence and the light and warmth vanishes. The cupboard opposite the door transforms into an iron maiden, the table becomes a torture rack and the floor becomes littered with skeletons.
We don’t go to Ravenholm. We don’t talk about Ravenholm. And that’s because Ravenholm is absolutely terrifying! Around every corner, there is something lurking and it wants to eat you.
Honestly, why would you go someplace they repeatedly tell you not to go?
So, which one of these games scared you the most? Leave a comment telling us.
