Disgusting enemies in video-games
In celebration of the gaming world’s most nauseating creations, we at Gamemela were curious to know how repulsive monsters can be in games.
We narrowed it down to 5 of the most disgusting enemies in games, right from the minor monsters to their most repulsive bosses.
Warning: To those with a weak stomach- Proceed with caution.
Boomers- Left 4 Dead (2008)
Nausea comes to life through Boomers. These bulky, boil-infested undead are usually visible from afar thanks to their constant groans of bile-induced sickness. If you notice them too late, you will be showered with a green, oozy vomit. (Until and unless one of your teammates bursts them open with a shotgun)
The Master- Fallout (1997)
One of the main rivals of the original Fallout, The Master looks more like a monster than the creator and leader of a race of super mutants. By the time the Vault Dweller meets him, he’s a biomechanical nightmare: a form of stretched flesh attached with electronic equipment. His eyeballs are where they shouldn’t be and there are ribbed tubes jutting out of his mutated remains. This is body horror at its finest.
Infested Corpse- Dark Souls 3 (2016)
Among the hordes of the undead are the Infested Corpses, all of whom appear to be normal, zombie-like creatures until they burst out a mass of writhing maggots from their chests. This growth has a mind of its own, creeping forward with its worm-covered arms and vomiting hundreds of the squirming larvae all over the player.
Clotho- God of War 2 (2007)
The towering, worm-like Clotho is a sickly, multi-armed mass of pale skin that is dotted with boils and bone-like growths. From the waist up, our woman doesn’t seem like much: just an immobile, greying goddess that can only swing her skinny, tumor-spotted arms at Kratos before he pierces her head with a blade. But from top to bottom, this humanoid silkworm is an upsetting horror.
Lepotica- Resident Evil 6 (2012)
What sets the slimy, split-faced Lepotica apart from the rest of Resident Evil’s repulsive monsters is the bunch of gaping sacs that make up its bloated torso. This thing is a trypophobe’s* worst nightmare. Its oversized pores vomit toxic gases that kill anyone nearby, while opening and closing in rhythmic bursts. As if that wasn’t disgusting enough, Lepotica can also open its face up into a flower of gore as it attempts to attack the player.
* A Trypophobe is someone who is afraid of irregular patterns or clusters of small holes or bumps. This fear is called Trypophobia.
