The 5 best Stealth Games
For those of you who don’t know, Stealth Games are a recent sub-genre in gaming. They are also known as “sneakers” or “creepers”, in contrast with the traditional “shooters”.
Stealth games task the player in using a stealthy approach to avoid or overcome enemies. This basically means that the player has to remain hidden by using disguises, and/or avoid making noise.
Here are Gamemela’s top 5 Stealth Games:
1.Thief: The Dark Project
Thief is set in an old-fashioned city. The game follows Garrett, a master thief trained by a secret society called The Keepers. Garrett takes up missions that weave an epic story between two opposing parties that ultimately lead to personal sacrifice and revelation.
Thief was also the first stealth game to use both sound and light as gameplay mechanics, and the first to feature an FPS perspective.
2.Metal Gear Solid
Metal Gear Solid follows Solid Snake, a soldier who break into a nuclear weapons facility to neutralize the terrorist threat from Foxhound– a Special Forces unit.
In the game, you must navigate Solid Snake through the game’s areas without being detected by enemies. Detection is triggered when you move into the enemy’s field of vision, which sets off an alarm that brings armed enemies to your location.
Assassin’s Creed puts you in the role of stealthy and free-running assassins who are recorded (and unrecorded) throughout history.
The game is set in a fictional history of real-world events and follows the struggle between the Assassins- who fight for peace with free will, and the Templars- who fight for peace through control.
4.Tom Clancey’s Splinter Cell
Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell is a series of popular action-adventure stealth video games.
The main lead Sam Fisher is a highly-trained agent of a black-ops sub-division within the NSA, known as “Third Echelon”. The player controls Fisher to overcome his enemies and encourages him to progress through the levels. The player has to remain hidden, select non-obvious routes, and use diversions to escape guards.
The Hitman series revolves around Agent 47, a cloned assassin-for-hire, whose perfect record puts him in high demand among the rich and famous.
The main objective of the game is to kill assigned targets. In most cases, Hitman allows the player different options to accomplish each task. The focus of the game is not hiding in the shadows from the enemy, but rather blending in with the enemies. It is up to the player to begin the violence, as guards do not open fire unless provoked.
